5 December 2009 – Lori’s House

At the APU Graduate Registrar’s Christmas Party, we made a variety of Christmas goodness, including this newly invented Reindeer Chow, a variation on the traditional holiday snack known to most people as “Puppy Chow.” The secret ingredients will never be divulged, so don’t even ask…

9 cups Chex Cereal
1 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup butter
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cup powdered sugar
3 cups pretzel sticks
1 cup white chocolate
Assorted sprinkles

Put cereal in large bowl. Melt chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Pour over Chex cereal, put into a large plastic bag with powdered sugar and shake well to coat. Spread mixture evenly on wax paper and allow to cool. After cooling, mix in broken pretzel sticks. Drizzle melted white chocolate over mixture, and adorn with your favorite colors of sprinkles. Let cool, and enjoy.
(M & Ms can be added right before eating for extra enjoyment)
